ZIYANA KOTADIA
Chair
Ziyana Kotadia is an advocate and writer in her final year of an Honours Specialization in Global Gender Studies and a Minor in Feminist, Queer and Critical Race Theory from Western University and Huron University College. She is passionate about poetry, performance, and politics and has a keen interest in exploring intersections among the worlds of academia, art, and advocacy. Ziyana is the Chair of the Safe Campus Coalition and was the full-time 2021-2022 Vice-President University Affairs for Western's University Students' Council, one of the nation’s leading student organizations, where she championed gender equity projects and the voices of over 35,000 undergraduate and professional students as the Chief Advocate and Stakeholder Relations Manager to the university's senior administration. She loves playing chess and watching documentaries.
CHARLOTTE NAU
Vice-Chair
Charlotte Nau (she/her) is a PhD candidate in Media Studies at Western University. Her work focusses on social media and feminism, exploring topics such as #MeToo and online sex worker communities. Charlotte grew up in Germany. She served as a leading organizer of Munich’s Slutwalk rally, a march against rape culture and slutshaming for several years. She is also an outdoor enthusiast and avid pole dancer.


EFFIE SAPURIDIS
Vice-Chair & Founder
Effie Sapuridis (she/her) is a PhD Candidate in Media Studies at Western University. Her research explores digital storytelling on new media platforms as an innovative, multimodal avenue for restorying identity. She has always been interested in how and why people tell their stories, and whether they are even given the opportunity to do so. Her activism, research, and life are informed by an ethics of care and compassion; this led her to join fellow activists and advocates in organizing the September 2021 walkout at Western. Following this event, she cofounded Safe Campus Coalition and is now serving as its Vice-Chair. She is also an elected, voting member of Western University’s Board of Governors. Effie loves to bake sweet confections, but does not enjoy eating them due to a severe lack of a sweet tooth!
KAYLEE GLAVIN
Secretary
Kaylee Glavin (she/her) is an undergraduate student in physiology and pharmacology at Western University. She is interested in studying gut microbiome changes in people with post traumatic stress disorder, and how those changes intersect with various socio-demographic factors. As secretary, she hopes to provide administrative and organizational support to various roles within Safe Campus Coalition. Kaylee is learning to paint with watercolours in her free time.


HANNA BARNETT
Sponsorship Lead
Hanna Barnett (she/her) is a second year PhD student in Hispanic Studies and Global Health Systems at Western University. Her research examines depictions of the 1918 Influenza in Canadian newspapers in regards to its “Spanish” moniker. Inspired by the 2021 walk out, she was motivated to work with the Safe Campus Coalition and is passionate about establishing SCC’s space in the advocacy realm at Western and beyond. In her free time, she enjoys reading cheesy romance novels.
AINSLEY GRAHAM
Advocacy Lead
Ainsley Graham (She/Her) has lived in London all her life apart from 3 years spent in Toronto going to Humber College. She had previously run as a Candidate in the 2022 municipal election in the East end of London. During that time she advocated for stronger equity for the city's homeless, and for making London a safer place for women and LGBTQ2S+ folks. Currently Ainsley is an active member of the Huron Heights Association, a regular volunteer at SafeSpace London and does community outreach and social media for two of the city's councilors.


KATIE CHOVANEC
Events & Campaigns Co-Lead
Katie Chovanec (she/her) is a fourth-year undergraduate student at Western University studying health sciences. She is passionate about examining health and gendered issues occurring across various social and educational spaces. Her past research includes analyzing digital feminist activism against gendered violence as well as attitudes related to the manifestation of gender inequality and violence within student spaces. During her free time, she enjoys creating art with sculpture and installation art being her preferred genre to work in.
